I wasn't a fan of how the sound of the album was a lot more sparse than Salad Days, with less synth experimentation and ventured into folk territory too much for my liking.

Mac is a lot more focused and might as well say, 'sadder' than he has been before. It's of course a lot less upbeat and much more melancholic than Salad Days, and a lot of the lyrics truly did resonate with me in terms of being introspective and realising the people I love around me aren't getting any younger etc.

I absolutely adore Salad Days because of how different it is compared to his work prior to that, however with this I hear many of the sounds rehashed/reworked it's not necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think it captured my attention as much as my first listen of Salad Days.
